In Celebration of

Mary Hetyey

March 10, 1938 -  November 23, 2018

In the early morning of Friday, November 23rd Mary Hetyey died peacefully at the age of 80 in her beloved home on Altadena Court in Mississauga. Mary (Marika) née Moor was the devoted wife of more than 50 years to the late Leslie Hetyey. Mary was the loving mother of sons John Varga and Peter Hetyey and daughter in law Stephanie (Wall) Hetyey. Mary leaves behind her devoted grandchildren Ella and Ava Hetyey, Christopher, Alexandra and Sean Varga.

Mary was dedicated to family. At the age of 18, she bravely left her family in Hungary: her mother Maria (Moor), late father Istvan, sister Iren (Moor) Szita and brothers Janos Moor and Konrad Moor to build a better life in Canada. She bravely pursued her dreams and built an incredible life here in Canada where she was an integral part of her community. She was brave, smart, funny, incredibly loving and she gave everything of herself for those she loved. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family including her beloved nieces and nephews and their families : Maria (Hugi) and Jozsef Horvath, the late Lajos and Kati Szita, Zita and Ferenc Borzsei, Gabriella and Csaba Abri, Tomas and Henrietta (Hani) Moor and Gabor and Balazs and Korneila Moor. Mary’s spirit and joie de vivre were only matched by her generosity and courage. Her passing leaves a hole in the world that won’t be filled.

Friends may call at the Turner & Porter ‘Neweduk- Erin Mills’ Chapel, 1981 Dundas St. W., Mississauga (just east of Erin Mills Parkway), on Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at 11 a.m.

At the family’s request, donations may be made to Trillium Health Partners Foundation - Cancer Services at Credit Valley Hospital, 905-848-7575

Mary was the kindest, caring and most loving person and we can truly say the best neighbour we've ever had! She always had a story to tell which most times would have us laughing. Not only was she funny she was an excellent host to many and loved life. Mary will be truly missed but always remembered for the person she was an amazing human being.
Love you Mary, may you rest in peace my friend.

We are saddened by the passing of Mary. We always loved seeing her smile at the Dental office. We spoke several times over the phone after the passing of Leslie just to see how she was doing. She always made us laugh and she will be deeply missed. Our sincere condolences to Peter and the family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.
