In Celebration of

Mary Grace Sbrocchi

August 13, 1953 -  March 10, 2021

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Mary Grace Sbrocchi (Falcone). Mary passed away peacefully at home on March 10th, 2021, surrounded by her loved ones, as were her wishes. Everyday she exemplified her unwavering love and devotion to her family.

Daughter of the late Giuseppe and Maria Falcone. Beloved wife of Francesco Sbrocchi, loving and devoted mother of Daniel, Joanna (Peter), Nadia (Jeffrey), and Christina (Jonathan). Mary deeply adored her three grandchildren Christian, Daniela and Joshua who will greatly miss their cherished Nonna. Sister to Emilio (Lucy), sister-in-law to Giuseppe (Giuseppina), Luciano (Rosaria), Michele (Carmelina) and aunt to many nieces and nephews in Canada and Italy. Mary will also be greatly missed by her aunts and uncle and many cousins and friends.

Mary was born on August 13th, 1953 in Roseto Valfortore, (FG), in Italy. She emigrated with her family at the age of 3 to Toronto. She grew up in the Royal York and Queensway area among many other paesani. Mary lost her mother at the young age of 18, which inspired her to pursue a career in Nursing.

Mary’s life long passion was being a caregiver as was seen in her long, established career as a nurse. She began her career at Women’s College Hospital in 1972 and retired from community nursing in 2018. Mary constantly went out of her way to help others in need and always carried her blood pressure machine and stethoscope if anyone needed their blood pressure taken. She was admired by her many co-workers and patients over the years. Mary loved to garden every spring and enjoyed planting flowers in her front yard. She had a passion for travelling and enjoyed many trips to Italy and loved to go on cruises with her husband, Francesco. Mary was an avid baker and had a passion for making jams and jarring her tomato sauce every year.

Mary lost a devastating, short battle with cancer, having only found out 1 month ago. She was a fighter to the end and made her wishes known.

The family would like to thank the incredible doctors at St. Michael’s Hospital, Princess Margaret Hospital, and Trillium Hospital for the amazing care she received.

So many fond memories of being in the kitchen at the Sbrocchi household growing up. I can picture it like it was yesterday. Always remember your mom’s incredible talent for cooking and her extra special leek soup. I don’t believe I truly appreciated or understood as a kid how much love, effort and dedication goes into being that kind of mom. She will continue to inspire. So sorry for Mary’s family and friends. Love from Susan Kane and the Deschenes family
