Mary Ellen Marcella Frances Marlborough was born at the Strathcona Maternity Facility
in Toronto on September 7th, 1945. She peacefully returned to her Heavenly Father on
March 30th, 2026. Mary Ellen, known affectionally as El, was the third child of Frank and Rosary Marlborough, the first of three daughters. She is predeceased by her parents, her brother Mike and brother-in-law Jim Williams. Mary Ellen is survived by her sister-inlaw Lynda, brother Gerry (Maureen), her sister Lorrie and her sister Marnie (Jim). Devoted family members include nieces and nephews Michelle and Matthew Marlborough, David, Karyn, and Brad Marlborough, Wayne and Michael Williams, Ryan, Christine and Greg Dahonick. She will be forever missed by her beloved four legged, fur nephew Sir Charles. Mary Ellen was particularly devoted to her great nieces and nephews. They filled her life with joy at their accomplishments and gratitude with their love.
After completing Grade 13 at Loretto College School, Mary Ellen attended Ontario
Teacher’s College. She taught primary school for a short time before finding a position as a pension consultant, which she enjoyed for many years. She met many lifelong friends while riding the GO Train from Mississauga to her office at Buck Consultants in downtown Toronto and retired in 2000.
An avid sports fan, Mary Ellen was often called upon to share her knowledge of official
rules and her opinion on professional curling, tennis, baseball, football and hockey teams. Her skill with numbers produced a mind that delighted in the challenge of television game shows and crossword puzzles. She will be greatly missed by her friends at the Erinview Retirement Residence where Mary Ellen resided for the last 2 years. She loved everyone there and enjoyed her daily card games, bingo and Happy Hours.
Mary Ellen was a lifelong Catholic who served as a lector at St. Francis of Assisi parish in Mississauga. Her Memorial Mass will be celebrated there at 11am on Friday, April 24th, 2026. Immediately followed by an inurnment at St. Mary‘s Cemetery, in Mississauga. Please join us as we pay tribute to our beloved sister, aunt, and precious friend who filled our lives with joy for so many delightful years. We will never forget her and will never be fortunate enough to meet anyone like Mary Ellen again. May she find eternal peace in the arms of her Savior.
