In Celebration of

Mary Axiak

November 20, 1934 -  May 9, 2021

As Mother’s Day started this past Sunday, our loving mother passed away at the Post Inn Village. Mom was always smiling and well known by many at the Post Inn for her pleasant disposition. Our sincere thanks go to all those who were so very kind with her care over the past three years.

Born in Malta and arriving in Canada in 1954 at age 19, she made a wonderful life with Dad (Anthony) to whom she was married for just short of 63 years until his passing in 2016. She was a loving mother to all five of us: Henry (Caroline), Joe, David (Brenda), Elizabeth (Jeff), and Ray (Magdalena), and will be fondly remembered by us and all 17 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Countless memories of time spent together and family gatherings will live forever in our hearts. We will never forget all the time you dedicated to support us, love us unconditionally, babysit our children and be there for us. Mom, recounting your stories, cooking your recipes, and every time we enjoy a pastizzi, we will think of you. We love you Mom, Nunna, Buz-Nunna.

An announcement for a celebration of life will be made in the coming months.

I only met my sister in law’s mom a few times over the years but that smile and warmth was so engaging and sincere - she is not a woman that you would ever forget . I am so happy to have shared the times we did . My wedding shower was hosted by my beautiful sister in law - at her mother’s home ! We had so much fun and Mary was a gracious hostess to a bunch of nutty girls . I have a funny picture of me posing with my mother , Elizabeth and her mother a few years ago - all of them hovering at the 5 foot mark and making me look like a giant at 5’7” ( plus heels ) Mary is laughing, looking up at me and it is for me , the way that I will always remember her .
I am so happy to know that my sister in law and her family all lived close enough by to enjoy all the big and small events in life together with Mary and Tony Axiak . I know that the love and the care and the ethics they modelled are truly cherished and are being carried on by their children and grandchildren and GREAT grandchildren now too . Rest In Peace Mary . Well done .
