Marjorie passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, on March 20, at the age of 83, after a courageous 10-year battle with Alzheimer’s.
Beloved wife of Bruce Jackson for over 62 years. Proud mother of her daughter Leah and son-in-law Mario Ledo and her son David and daughter-in-law Carrie Jackson. Loving Grandmother to Madeline and Jacob Jackson. Dear sister of, and predeceased by brothers Bill Draper (Patricia), Ted Draper, sister Rosemary Draper and twin sister Gwen Harvey. Survived by brother-in-law Carl Harvey and sister-in-laws Linda Jackson and Helen Sanderson. Adored Aunt to her nine nieces and nephews and their families.
Marjorie was one of the most kind and caring individuals, who welcomed everyone into her life and her home with a smile. Marjorie loved hosting and connecting family and friends and many life memories were created under her watch. She would go out of her way to listen to and help everyone she met. Her compassion and generosity touched countless lives, and her legacy of love and kindness lives on through those who knew her.
Marjorie started her teaching career in 1961. She taught for many years before having children and she then continued occasional teaching for decades. Marjorie continued her education at Simon Fraser University and volunteered for many years at the Lakeshore Psychiatric Hospital, Bloordale United Church, The Food Bank, Welcome Baby and several other organizations. Marjorie was an avid Bridge and Tennis player and loved travelling and spending time at Paudash Lake with family and friends. She continued to help and touch almost everyone she met, even at her Care Home Westbury Chartwell, for the past 8 years. Sadly, Marjorie had early onset Alzheimer’s and battled through this for the past 10 plus years. Marjorie was joined by her beloved Bruce in the care home in 2020, after he visited her every day for the first four years.
Marjorie will be deeply missed, forever cherished and fondly remembered by her extended family and friends. We thank you for the many, many condolences and sentiments, recounting the ways that Marjorie touched your lives and made a difference.
Our family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the many PSW’s and staff for their exceptional care and kindness over the years.
In memory of Marjorie donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society.
We will celebrate Marjorie’s Life on Sunday, September 7th, 2025
