It is with heavy hearts that the family of Marion Joyce Standon (nee Williams) announce her passing on Sunday, July 17, 2022 at the age of 96.

Predeceased by her husband, Douglas, of 68 years, she will be forever missed by her beloved family: her brother, Bill, and sister-in-law Marion; her 2 children Bob (Kim) and Cathy White (Bobby); her 6 grandchildren, Michael (Alison), Sara (Marc), Lisa (Ryan), Jessica (Cameron), Jeffrey (Michelle) and Carrie (Raymond); and her 9 great-grandchildren, who were a source of so much joy and delight for her these last few years: Emma, Lucy, Kate, James, Madeline, Samuel, Benjamin, Elliot, and Noah. Loving Aunt to many nieces and nephews, and a dear friend to so many people over the years.

Marion lived a long and full life, and will be remembered for her sharp mind, beautiful knitting, and lengthy chats over tea. She was a storyteller at heart and loved to discuss current events as much as she loved regaling us with stories of her past. She had fond memories of her early days in Hamilton, their family life in Mississauga, her many years as a teacher, cruises to faraway places and so many happy memories over the years at their cottage in Muskoka, including naps in her favourite chair on the porch looking out at the lake. She was kind, humble, calm, and practical - and above all, so very loving.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to her caring and compassionate caregivers both at Walden Circle and in her final days at Trillium Hospital.

A private Funeral Service will be held next week for immediate family members.

If desired, the family would appreciate donations to the Trillium Health Partners Foundation or Special Olympics Ontario in lieu of flowers.
