In Celebration of

Marija Vretenar

October 14, 1937 -  January 31, 2024

Marija passed away peacefully on January 31, 2024, at the age of 86, at St. Joseph’s Health Centre in Toronto. She was born on October 14, 1937 in Glogovac, Croatia and is the sole remaining sibling among six children. She immigrated to Canada where she would meet the love of her life Aldo. They lived together in Toronto, enjoying 47 happy years of marriage.

Marija will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and compassion, leaving a lasting impact on everyone who knew her. Her family requests that she be remembered for the joy she brought to others in life, rather than the sadness of her passing.

May Marija rest in peace, and her legacy of love and warmth live on in the hearts of those she touched.

Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W., on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 from 10-11 a.m., followed by a Funeral Service in the Chapel at 11 a.m. Interment Assumption Cemetery.

Many of you have asked how you can help during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, we ask for a gift to offset funeral expenses. Your support is appreciated.
