In Celebration of

Marianne Jean Wright

November 30, 1942 -  April 20, 2023

With heavy hearts, we announce that Marianne passed away peacefully on April 20, 2023, having celebrated her 80th birthday only a few months earlier. She leaves behind: Ross, her devoted husband of 56 years; beloved sons Kevin (Kristine), and Brian (Jennifer); adored grandchildren Julianne, Elizabeth, Emma, and Eric; sister-in-law Edna; brother-in-law Grant; nieces and nephews Kim (Barry), Shawn (Doug), Mark (Irene), Andrew, Kyle, Robyn (Mike); and other cherished extended family and circle of friends in Canada, Poland and elsewhere. She is predeceased by her parents, Marcel and Cecilia, and brother Walter.

Marianne was born in Hamilton, Ontario, the daughter of Polish immigrants. She grew up on her parents' fruit farm in nearby Fruitland, attended Saltfleet High School with Ross, and graduated from McMaster University. After living briefly with her brother and his family, she married Ross in 1967. They came to live most of her adult life in Mississauga.

She had a keen mind and enjoyed playing bridge regularly with her friends. Marianne and Ross loved to travel together in Canada and abroad. She embarked on special trips to see relatives in Poland with her father in the 1980s and with Kevin and his family in 2014.

Marianne will be missed by many for her loving, generous, thoughtful, empathetic and genuine nature, her bright smile, sense of humour and love of life. The world is a better place for having her. Her shining example will carry on in those of whom she touched.

Memorial donations may be made to the Dorothy Ley Hospice, where Marianne spent her final days.

Special thanks to the staff at Mississauga Trillium Hospital (3A-6J) and Dorothy Ley Hospice, who cared for Marianne.

We miss you so much Aunt Marianne. You were such a special person in all of our lives and loved so much. You held such a special piece of all of our hearts and you made the best squares!
We will always remember your kindness. I will never forget how you searched through 7 years of receipts (or asked Uncle Ross too!! ) to find out what my favourite perfume was for my 40th birthday.
We love you and our lives were so much better because you were an important part of it.
Much love
Robyn, Mike, Abby, Jack and Chloe

My condolences to your whole family. I have known Marianne for more years than I can remember. We met at university women’s club playing bridge and have kept up our connection over the years. She was a loo lady and I will miss her.

A wonderful lady who will be greatly missed by us all. I have fond memories of visiting when we came to Canada on holiday on many occasions. Always a warm hug and a beautiful smile every time we saw each other. I know you will be in heaven watching over us all.

To the Wright family,

It was a great pleasure to meet Mrs. Wright some years ago while I was visiting Kevin and Kristine in Toronto. Mrs. Wright welcomed me into her home as if I were family; being kind, thoughtful, cheerful and sweet. Without a doubt, she will be remembered lovingly by her family and friends, and fondly of those, like me, who only knew her casually. I know the Wright family will have many wonderful memories of a very special woman.

With sympathy and love,
Cristine
