In Celebration of

Maria Thiel

November 24, 1942 -  March 3, 2025

It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, Maria Louise Thiel (aka Mausi or Mima) at the age of 82. She passed away peacefully at Trillium Health Partners - Mississauga Hospital, on March 3, 2025 after battling pancreatic cancer. During her final days in palliative care she was supported and lovingly surrounded by her family.

She is predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Franz Thiel. Survived by her loving children Adrian (Myriam) Thiel and Deborah (Marco) Maggiotto and by her four grandchildren, Jonathan, Michael, Samantha and Nicole.

Dear sister of Margaret “Putzi” and Susi “Pippi” and sister-in-law to Walter and Gerhart. Always remembered by her sisters as their Mausi / Mausilein. Predeceased by brothers Fred and Kurt “Randy” (late Christine).

She will be remembered lovingly by her nieces and nephews, Jennifer, Christopher, Steffi, Thomas, Rob and Tony, as their Tante Mima.

Her generous nature and caring of those around her will be so missed by us all. Her family finds peace in knowing that her love will continue to surround them always, and that she is now at peace.

Maria was born on November 24, 1942 in Vienna, Austria to Rudolf and Rosa Egger. She spent her childhood years in Austria with her siblings. She immigrated to Canada in 1960’s living in Toronto and eventually settled in Mississauga where she lived until early this year.

We would like to express our sincere thanks to Trillium Health Partners -Mississauga Hospital and the amazing staff for their excellent care, compassion and support, and for also ensuring her final days were comfortable.

Family and friends will be welcomed at Turner & Porter “Peel” Chapel, 2180 Hurontario St., (Hwy. 10, N of the QEW) Mississauga, ON. Visitation on Sunday March 9th from 4-7pm.

Funeral service will be held on Monday March 10th at 10:30am at St. Martin of Tours Parish. 1290 McBride Avenue, Mississauga,ON. Reception to follow.

In memory of Maria, a donation may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
