Although I did not know Maria Perek, I did work with her son Mario for some years. My own mother died in her 90s and I felt that I should express my condolences and also congratulate the family on helping their mother to have such a long and undoubtedly rewarding life. I also congratulate the family on the dignified and concise text of the obituary notice in the Toronto Star. Although I do not normally read the obituaries, as I was turning the pages on Saturday, I said to my wife, "Here is a thoughtful obituary, much shorter and therefore more elegant than so many others nowadays." It was only then that I noticed the name Perek and went to the website of the funeral home. Unfortunately, I cannot attend the service on February 18, because of a health issue, but I look forward to being in touch with Mario one day in the future, perhaps if he attends one of the monthly Industry Canada alumni lunches. Again, condolences from Geoffrey Jones.
