In Celebration of

Maria Noemia Resendes

June 9, 1937 -  May 4, 2022

It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of our Avo, Noemia Resendes at the age of 84.

Noemia was the last of 4 children to Manuel and Margarida da Silva. Raised in Ponta Delgada Portugal, she immigrated to Canada in 1965 with her husband Francisco and two small daughters Suzanna and Regina for new opportunities.

Noemia was a strong woman with admirable drive and always rose above in the face of her share of adversity. Widowed at the age of 47 she found solace in prayer and the Catholic Church to which she devoted her time. Noemia was selfless, especially when it came to her family and while she spent most of her life in the hospitality industry, she took the most joy in helping raise her grandchildren.

Noemia, is predeceased by parents Manuel & Margarida, siblings Margarida, Leontina, Saul, daughter Regina Lemos, and husband Francisco Resendes. It brings us great comfort knowing her transition to the afterlife is guided by the ones she so deeply loved. Sadly it is those family and friends left behind that will feel her void but we are blessed to cherish her memory. Noemia’s legacy lives on with her daughter Suzanna Grant, son-in-laws Daniel Lemos & Derek Grant, her grandchildren Christopher Lemos, Crystal Grant, Joey Lemos (Natalie), Chantelle Grant, Justin Grant and her absolute pride and joys, the great grandchildren Julia & Callen Lemos (Joey & Natalie)and Nolan Henderson (Crystal).

Family and friends are invited to Turner & Porter "Peel" Chapel, 2180 Hurontario Street, Mississauga for visitation on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 from 5-8 p.m. Funeral Mass to be held at Cristo Rei Parish, 3495 Confederation Pkwy, Mississauga on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. Interment at Prospect Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers or donations the family asks you spend time with your loved ones. Time truly is a gift, and we value all the time Noemia gave to us.

Rest in Peace, we love you and we'll see you on the other side xoxo

Dear Susan and family

WHEN TOMORROW STARTS WITHOUT ME

When tomorrow starts without me, and I’m not there to see, if the sun should rise and find your eyes filled with tears for me, I wish so much you wouldn’t cry, the way you did today, While thinking of the many things we didn’t get to say. I know how much you loved me, as much as I loved you, and each time that you think of me, I’ll know you miss me too. But when tomorrow starts without me, please try to understand, that Jesus came and called my name, and took me by the hand, and said my place was ready in heaven far above, and that I’d have to leave behind all those I dearly love. So when tomorrow starts without me, don’t think we’re far apart, for every time you think of me, I’m right here, in your heart. With deepest sympathies. Melanie and Jose.

I had the pleasure to sit and have coffee with Maria. It didn’t take me long to recognize that she raised the most beautiful, honest and caring person in this world and that was Susan. But most importantly, Susan was an extremely important person in Maria’s life. Susan took amazing care of her mother on a daily basis. Taking her grocery shopping, Dr appts etc. until the sad day came that Maria wasn’t able to travel any longer. There wasn’t a day that would go bye that Susan wouldn’t be visiting her mom with groceries, Px’s, her favourite desserts, shopping for a special outfit or shoes, even a cozy blanket. Susan was the epitome of a dedicated daughter. For that, I am blessed to have met Maria because if it wasn’t for Maria I wouldn’t have met my beautiful friend Susan. RIP Maria
