In Celebration of

Maria De Melo

December 29, 1925 -  October 7, 2020

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Maria de Conceição De Melo who passed away at Trillium Hospital in Mississauga on October 7, 2020 at the age of 94.

Our strong matriarch was born in São Miguel, Azores and came to Canada in 1970 with her family.

Beloved wife of the late Eduardo De Melo married for 68 years, the loving and devoted mother to Eduardo (Maria), Jose (Estrella), Maria (Late Jose), Antonio (Kathy), Gabriel and Humberto.

Cherished vavó to Mike (April), Sue (Brent), Rick, Christina (Mauricio), Chris (Amy), Jen, Stephanie (Chris), Sherry (James), Michelle (Nick) and Branden.

Adoring bisavô to Rhys, Riley, Amelia, Mathias, Madyson, Olivia, Hailey, Brooklynn, Weston, Marcus and Trinity.

She will always be remembered by her kindness, generosity and great love for her family and grandchildren. We will always treasure the memory of gathering the family together whether it was sitting in the backyard or enjoying the day at the park. Her smile provided warmth, humor made everything fun and she always showed unconditional love.

You will be forever missed, loved beyond words and never soon forgotten as you are resting peacefully with your beloved husband in God’s kingdom.

In lieu of flowers, donations in the memory of Maria can be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a private visitation will be held at Turner & Porter. A private funeral mass will be held at St. Joseph church and entombment to follow at Assumption Catholic Cemetery.
