In Celebration of

Maria Carmela Pietroiusti

August 9, 1937 -  July 27, 2025

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Maria Carmela Pietroiusti (née Tucceri Cimini) a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt. She passed away peacefully on July 27th, 2025 in Mississauga, surrounded by family. She was predeceased by her parents (Luigi Tucceri Cimini and Pasqualina D’Amore) and her husband (Luigi Pietroiusti). She is survived by her brother, Ernesto Tucceri Cimini; her children, Angela (Paul) and Sergio (Sandra); her grandchildren, Julia (Matthew), Sarah (Neill), Alicia, Laura, David, and Matthew; her great grandchildren, Michael, Oliver, Lance, Isabella, and Elliott; and her many nieces and nephews. She was kind, magnanimous of spirit, compassionate, and selfless.

Maria was born in Cerchio, Italy, where she trained as a seamstress prior to immigrating to Canada in 1956. She then settled in Cooksville, where she raised her family and maintained a welcoming home filled with the aroma of her traditional Abruzzese cuisine and with the sound of laughter around the kitchen table.

Not only did she pass along her appreciation of Italian food, but she also spent countless hours telling us stories and teaching us about our Italian heritage--creating memories that we will cherish for the rest of our lives. Without her, we would not be who we are today.

Her love was her greatest gift, and we will carry it with us always.

We would like to thank Claudeta, Stella, Angel, Rachel, and Rosa, who provided compassionate care, support, kindness, and respect to Maria in her final years.

Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Peel Chapel, 2180 Hurontario Street, on Wednesday, August 6, 2025 from 2-4 & 6-8pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at St Catherine Of Siena, 2340 Hurontario Street, on Thursday, August 7, 2025 at 9:30am. Interment to follow at St. Mary's Port Credit Cemetery, 2099 Dickson Road.
