Surrounded by her loving family, Maria passed away peacefully in her 80th year on January 22, 2019, at the Mississauga Trillium Hospital.

Beloved wife of over 50 years to Guilherme. Cherished mother to Filomena and her husband, Armenio. Much loved Avo to Joshua, Christopher, and his wife, Emily. Adored Bisavo to Bennett and Vivienne. Loving aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Maria was born in Esposende, Portugal on August 8, 1938. Predeceased by her father Manuel, her mother Maria, and brothers Jose, Agostinho and Avelino.

Maria had a zest for life, enjoyed singing and dancing, tending to her flowers and spending time bantering with family and strangers alike. She was a renowned cook and took pleasure in preparing great meals for her family, especially her grandchildren.
