In Celebration of

Maria Angela Randi

September 20, 1935 -  June 11, 2025

We are very saddened at the passing of our dearly beloved mother, cherished aunt, and loving friend Maria Angela Randi (nee Paneccasio) on Wednesday June 11th at the Milton Hospital. In her 89th year, Maria was born in 1935 in the small farming community of Cerchio, Italy, as the third of 6 siblings. In 1964, Maria made the difficult decision of leaving her hometown and immigrating to Ontario. She met the love of her life, Matthias Randi in 1967, was married in 1968, and by 1970, her daughter Maura was born. Maria was a dedicated mother to Maura, particularly in light of the fact that she became widowed when Maura was 6 years old. She worked hard as a single parent and always had a way of making a good life for herself and her daughter, with the help of her sister Maria-Grazia and her many friends and fellow Italian immigrants. Wherever Maria was, there would always be a table laden with her delicious homemade food and her specialty pastries and cookies. Always generous towards her nieces, nephews, godchildren, friends, neighbours, co-workers and anyone in need, one would always leave Maria’s house with lots of goodies, treats, fresh vegetables from her well-tended garden, and memories of time spent playing her favourite card game “Scopa”, listening to her favourite Italian folk songs, and sipping her favourite drinks, brandy and espresso coffee. She will be missed by all who knew her for her kind and generous nature, her “no-nonsense” way of approaching life, and for her many good deeds towards others. Predeceased by her parents Annina and Giovanni Paneccasio, by all of her siblings, Guido, Maria-Grazia, Anna, Quinto and Amerigo and by her late husband Matthias, Maria will always be remembered for her vivacious and energetic nature, her devotion to the Madonna delle Grazie (one of the patron saints of her hometown), and her many kind gestures towards family and friends.

Visitation will take place on Monday June 23, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at the Turner and Porter Funeral Home, Peel Chapel, 2180 Hurontario Street, Mississauga.

Funeral Mass will be on Tuesday June 24th, 10:00 am, at Sts. Peter and Paul Parish at 4070 Central Parkway East, Mississauga.

In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to any one of the following three charities: Hospital for Sick Children; Parkinson’s Foundation; Heart and Stroke Foundation.
