With heavy hearts, we share with you the passing of our beloved mother Alcinda, who passed away peacefully in Mississauga, the exact date of her loving husband’s 100th birthdate.

Alcinda is survived by her children Joao (Ilda) Gomes, Aniceto (Rosemary) Gomes, Dilia (Sergio) Massa and Jose (Manuela) Gomes.

Born in Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal. Alcinda grew up in the town of Arrifes. She married Hermano Gomes at the age of 20 and they began their family shortly after.

In 1968, she and her children immigrated to Toronto, Canada, joining her husband to start a new life, managing a restaurant and a grocery store, providing comforts of home to other newcomers to Canada, but she was better known for her personality and loving heart.

In 1988, the family moved to Mississauga where they took root and were blessed to enjoy their 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Alcinda lived a blessed life surrounded by her extended family who will forever cherish the memories, values, and legacy she leaves behind. She was a woman of deep faith and her deep belief in God supported her in her final days and ultimately gave her peace.

Alcinda will forever be in our hearts.
