In Celebration of

Margo Shields

October 11, 1943 -  November 7, 2021

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Margo on Sunday, November 7, 2021. Born in Dysart, Scotland on October 11, 1943, Margo is predeceased by her mother, Jean Watson and her father, John Cunningham. Margo will be deeply missed by her loving husband Tom. Cousins Liz and Jacqueline and nieces Colleen and Nadine. Margo lived in Scotland where she completed primary and secondary school before moving to Canada when she was 18. Margo worked for many years as an executive secretary for the Public Accountants Council in Toronto.

Margo enjoyed travel. She was a great lover of cats, and she enjoyed her balcony garden. Margo was an extraordinary hostess, particularly for the annual “Burns Dinner”. Margo will be greatly missed by husband Tom, her cousins, friends and neighbours at High Park Green.

Due to COVID restrictions, a private Service of Remembrance will take place. In lieu of flowers, a donation in memory of Margo may be made to a charity of your choice.

I am so sad to hear of the passing of Margo, she was a client that quickly became a friend. I would always look forward to her weekly visits, our chats, and advance when needed. Unfortunately due to the pandemic those weekly visits were less frequent this past year, but she would always check in with a text or a call. I will treasure the time we spent together and will miss her very much.

Dearest Tom, my heart is filled with so much sadness knowing that our beautiful Margo is no longer with us. She was the most beautiful, kind and amazing woman. Being in her presence just made me feel better and her sense of humour was infectious. I will treasure every moment that I shared with her and with you. She loved you very much...and we will always be here for you as you navigate these difficult days. Margo will forever remain in my heart for her goodness and her kindness will never be forgotten. Please know that you are in my thoughts and in my prayers Tom.

Surprised to see Margo's name as I scanned the paper today, shocked to see why it was there. Margo saw to it that the Public Accountants Council kept functioning well and that anyone coming to the office was glad to be there. A bonus was that when requested, Tom hooked up the wiring for our computer system, demonstrating his professional expertise. Keep well Tom.

I was so sad to hear the news about Margo. I am the daughter of my late father, Clifford Doughty who was Margo’s boss at The Public Accountants Council. I got to know Margo through my father and she and I enjoyed many good laughs together. My condolences to Tom and all of the family.
Sincerely,
Sandy
