In Celebration of

Margaret T. Tipping

November 30, 1929 -  October 14, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Margaret Tipping, who was born on November 30, 1929, and left this world peacefully on October 14, 2024. Margaret lived a life full of purpose, passion, and an energetic spirit that touched everyone she encountered. She is survived by one sister, Betty Vanhouten and predeceased by two brothers, Alan Tipping and Fr. Clair Tipping, and one sister, Estelle Hartnett.

A dedicated teacher and piano instructor, Margaret inspired countless students to find their passion and musical voice. Her patience and creativity transformed lessons into memorable experiences. Margaret was also a devoted missionary, sharing her faith and kindness wherever she went which included places like the Philippines and Africa with the Holy Childhood Association. Her active involvement in Our Lady of Sorrows Church brought her great joy, and she formed deep connections with her fellow parishioners, always ready with a smile and a helping hand. In addition to her teaching and volunteer work, Margaret was a published author, sharing her experiences and insights with the world.

For 20 years, Margaret volunteered at the Toronto Zoo, where her love for animals and guests of all ages shone brightly. Her time at the zoo was filled with laughter and a genuine commitment to the care and well-being of all creatures great and small.

Margaret is survived by her cherished family and a community of neighbours, coworkers and fellow parishioners she called all friends.

We grew up across the street from the Tipping family on Herne Hill. Margaret was such a joyful person always interested in what was happening in others' lives.
She lived a full life and contributed MUCH to leave the world a better place.

I was so sorry to hear of Marg's passing. She taught music at the schools I taught in for years. She taught my own children to play the piano at private lessons.
Marg and I served many funeral Masses together at Sorrows. We had a great time together and I am sorry to hear of her passing. Marg was very kind and compassionate. RIP

Loved how she use to take me aside on family gatherings. Telling me it's ok to be a little spiteful. In so many words.
