Dear Linda and Nancy
I just wanted to offer my heartfelt condolences at this time. All of us loved your Mom and have so many wonderful memories of your family. It is such memories that remain in our hearts forever.

My mother, Thora Young (nee Craigie), first met Marg Crossing at school in Fort William when they were both about thirteen years old. They remained lifelong friends.
In the early 1940s when Thora was a very homesick teenager attending the University of Toronto, she was so lucky to have her friend Marg studying nursing in Toronto as well. I have some of the letters that my Mom wrote home. She was sometimes lonely, but the letters are also filled with happy comments about boys, dances, her need for more fashionable dresses and the fun times with her good friend Marg. One letter, written on April 27, 1942 says, “ Crossing and I went to church together last night and it was swell. She gets prettier every day and has the most adorable new hat.”
Over the years despite being separated geographically, they kept up their friendship. As Thora aged, was widowed and became more isolated, Marg’s regular phone calls were a lifeline for her. I could always tell who the caller was by their laughter. Marg was a true friend to my mother.
I send sincere condolences to all Marg’s family.
Best wishes,
Marg Irwin (nee Young)
