It is with profound sadness and heartache that we announce the passing of Marash Pjeter Martinaj. Marash passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 24, 2021, at the age of 94.

Loving and devoted husband of Drande Martinaj, beloved son of Pjeter and Rushe Martinaj, brother of the late Prenda Vatnika and family, Nikoll Martinaj and family, the late Zoje Vuka and family, the late Gjon Martinaj and family, the late Bale Martinaj, Lazer Martinaj and family, Lina Mhilli and family, and cousins he was raised with who he considered his siblings the late Dede Ndreu and family, the late Lulash Ndreu and family, the late Pepe Ndreu and family and the late Dushe Ndrea and family. Father of Liljana Ranxi and Antoneta Reci, father in law of Kasem Ranxi and Eduart Reci. He also leaves behind granddaughter Isida Ranxi and husband, Richard Quinn, granddaughter Arba Ranxi and partner George Verri, and granddaughter Alessia Reci.

A veteran, Marash had a distinguished career in the Albanian Armed Forces, reaching the rank of Colonel. He was a lover of history and geography, education, great literature, great thinkers, music, and hiking the Albanian Alps. A compassionate, giving and thoughtful person, Marash was kind to everyone he met. He loved to help others, and most of all those in need. Marash's faith strengthened and sustained him throughout the many chapters of his life.

A private family funeral will be held.
