In Celebration of

Malcolm Martin

December 2, 1949 -  April 17, 2025

The family of Malcolm Martin, of West Lake, Prince Edward County and Toronto, share, with much sadness, the news of his passing on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at the age of 75, after a short illness. Malcolm was predeceased by his parents, A.J. and Babs Martin. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Eleanor Martin, and their daughters, Siona Martin and Alison Martin, and their grandchildren, Samantha, Dylan and Isabella (Bella). Malcolm is also survived by his brother, Ashton Martin, sisters Debbie Martin and Daphne Martin and her husband John Richardson.

Malcolm graduated from University of Toronto, followed by Queen’s University where he attended law school, and made many friends. He graduated in 1976. Once called to the Bar, he practiced law as a sole practitioner, at various times in association with other lawyers. At the same time, he led, along with his brother Ashton, Fermar Paving Group, a company his father had established, and which Malcolm was influential in growing to the size it is today. He continued in that capacity as recently as a few short weeks ago.

Malcolm had a larger-than-life presence. He touched the lives of many, forming deep and meaningful relationships that spanned not just years, but decades. His warmth, humour and generosity were felt by his many friends and colleagues, as well as family. He will be deeply missed.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, April 25 at 3 p.m. at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W. (east of Jane St.) Toronto with visitation starting at 2 p.m. The service will be live-streamed and a link will be available on this page.

Donations in Malcolm’s memory can be made to a charity of your choice.

Dear Eleanor

Bill and I are so sorry to hear the news of Malcolm. Malcolm was so kind to me and I believe I am the person I am today because of Malcolm. He brought me out of my shell and I thank him for that. We had so many great times at the cottage with you, I still look at the pictures.
Our deepest condolences. I’ll be joining the service through zoom.
Love Nancy and Bill.

I send my sincere condolences during this time of sorrow. The Bible promises that your loved one will live again on a beautiful paradise earth when death will be no more in John 5:28, 29.

Malcolm was like a father to me. I worked for him for almost 20 years. He’s going to be incredibly missed and I’m truly grateful that I had the opportunity to work with such an amazing man. He had a golden heart and the most loving soul. He will remain in my heart forever. My deepest sympathies go out to the Martin family. He will never be forgotten. May he rest in eternal peace. Love you always.
