Luis De Moura

September 10, 1926 - April 8, 2019

Peacefully, at his home, at Houses of Providence – Birch House on Monday April 8th, 2019 in his 92nd year. Luis beloved husband and cherished friend of the late Angie De Moura (nee Fernandes). Loving father of the late Marlene Fernandes De Moura. Brother of the late Martinha Fernandes, the late Celestina De Freitas and the late Jose Pedro Moura.

Luis immigrated from Madeira, Portugal in 1953 arriving in Halifax, Canada via Pier 21. He was one of the first Portuguese immigrants to make Canada his home.

Funeral Mass will be held Monday April 15th, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John of the Cross Church, 6890 Glen Erin Drive, Mississauga.

Interment to follow at Assumption Cemetery.

Family and friends are forever grateful to each member of the Houses of Providence care team who cared for Luis.

Should family and friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations to the Cardinal Ambrozic Houses of Providence - BIRCH HOUSE would be greatly appreciated.

Remembering Loui and the good times we shared at my modest cottage at Camp Lake Muskoka which he helped furnish. Thanks for all the second hand stuff. Still remember the old mattress he tied on top of his 1956 Chevy lost in transit somewhere along highway 400. R.I.P. old pal.

For all your help, care, advice, and kindness throughout my life, I thank you very much uncle Luis for myself, and on behalf of my late parents, especially my mother who was your sister.

To Shari, whose expert and angelic personal care was indispensable to uncle Luis and aunt Angie over the past 17 years, I thank you most sincerely for your leadership and sacrifice over these many years on behalf of our extended family. Nothing on Earth could repay your kind and generous service to the De Mouras and our whole family. But, in some measure, may you receive the same in kindness and good fortune that you have extended to uncle Luis. God Bless....
