In Celebration of

Ludwig Grandy

August 2, 1930 -  September 11, 2020

Passed away at 90 years old after a battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. He leaves behind his loving wife of 47 years, Madeleine, his daughter, Jacqueline, and his sister Ella & family. Predeceased by his siblings Annie, Eugene and Effie.

Lud was a good kind, uniquely funny, gentle man. He loved relaxing in his living room chair, his fish & chips, his keen gentle fondness for flirting with women. In earlier years he definitely loved his inventions to solving problems. He will be sorely missed by his family. Rest in peace dark haired handsome!

If desired, donations to the Alzheimer’s Association would be appreciated.

My deepest condolences. Lud was a fine man and a real gentleman. I loved the twinkle in his eye and his unique sense of humor. He often enjoyed a glass of red or white with me when we were together at one of Barb's parties. RIP Ludwig

I met Lud a few times socially at an outdoor function in the summer time I would always gravitate to him as both of us are from nearby outports in newfondland and only 15 years apart in age we had the growing up experience of being from there and what a laugh and yarn we would have

Uncle Lud,

I cannot believe you are gone. I’m sitting here trying to put my thoughts in order….I know you are probably laughing at this feat!!! So many thoughts come to mind of our adventures; your love for funny socks and how loving you were towards people who were close to you.

Remember the time you caught me walking on the stone driveway? You told me to ‘get my shoes on…’ I looked up at you with a scowl, hands on my hips and said, “you are not the boss of me!’ You laughed and that made me laugh…you were worried about my feet getting hurt.

There were so many holidays we shared, sharing fish and chips and a good glass of wine…for those, I will always be grateful! You were always my favourite….even when I was talking a picture to send to Jackie and you made that face. You always let me take your picture if I mentioned Jackie.

The family will miss you; it will be hard to move forward. We will though, because that is what you would have wanted. You never wanted to be a burden……You were never a burden……I hope you know that!

Take care of Bacardi, Max and Onion…I know they will be so happy to see you!!

We will see each other one day.

I miss you handsome!
