Passed peacefully on Thursday, August 1, 2024, at the age of 91, following a long and courageous battle with dementia.

Lucja was born in Łódź, Poland, and was always fiercely proud of her Polish heritage. Her family emigrated from Poland in March 1946, in post war Europe, they made their way to Alderburg, Germany, and in December 1946, crossed the Alps into Italy. In 1948, they continued their journey and made their way to England, where one of Lucja’s proudest accomplishments was attending and receiving an education at Grendon Hall. The family arrived at Pier 21 in Halifax, Canada, on February 23, 1952. Subsequently she settled in the Toronto area.

Lucja is predeceased by her eldest son Jerry. She is survived by her children Les (Ursula), Elizabeth, Andrew, and daughters-in-law Ela and Helen. Dear sister of Krystyna, and her late brother Zenek. Babcia to Emily (Peter), Julie (Erick), Tonni (Alex), Victoria, Alexandra and Andrew. Devoted Pra-Babcia to Adan and Krystyna.

Lucja rarely missed watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune – her favourite hour of each day! She was an avid reader, an accomplished cook, and baked the best apple Szarlotka. Her hands were always kept busy with knitting elaborate sweaters or needlepointing masterworks, embroidering, crocheting and sewing. Lucja immensely enjoyed both dancing and singing, which always was an integral part of her life.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks and deepest gratitude to the dedicated and compassionate staff at Dom Lipa Long Term Care Home, for encouraging Lucja to live out her final year in dignity and comfort.

Family & Friends may call at the Turner & Porter "Peel" Chapel, 2180 Hurontario St., Mississauga (HWY 10, N. of QEW), on Friday, August 16, 2024 from 3-7 pm.

Interment at Sanctuary Park.
