In Celebration of

Lorraine Jean Brown

May 6, 1928 -  September 9, 2021

(Nee: Uffelman)

Lorraine passed peacefully on September 9th at Credit Valley Hospital with family at her side. Predeceased by her loving husband of 63 years, Stuart, daughter Nancy, parents William and Minnie (Hagen) Uffelman, brother Sheldon, sister-in-law Doris, sister Marjorie (Merle) Day, and brother-in-law Bill Hood. Lorraine is lovingly remembered by her remaining children Suzanne (Ed), Barbara, Bill (Shazrina), her grandchildren Aiden, Daniel, and Ryan, sister-in-law Anne Hood, nephews and nieces Ken, Stuart, Mary, and Doug Hood; Laurie, John and Craig Uffelman; Marla, Nancy, Barbara, Ralph and Janet Day.

Lorraine studied nursing at Toronto Sick Children’s Hospital; graduating in 1950 as a Registered Nurse, she was a long time Alumna of Sick Kids’. Prior to marrying Stuart, they built their first home in Port Credit. Moving to Clarkson in 1968 Lorraine volunteered for the Alpha Epsilon. Stuart and Lorraine were long time members of St Bride’s Church. Curling at the Mississauga Golf Club was a big part of Lorraine’s life. For many years, Lorraine worked in the family wallpaper business, Walter L. Brown Ltd and when Suzanne started her business in 1991, Lorraine helped until deciding to retire at 85.

Lorraine and Stuart loved travelling; you would be hard pressed to find a place they hadn’t travelled to in the world. Once they discovered cruising, not a year passed that they wouldn’t take a cruise somewhere in the world – and have passed that love of travel to all of their children and grandchildren. Family, friends and travelling guests were always welcomed to her home and many great parties held in the back yard. One regret of the past year of Covid is that we couldn’t take Mom on a cruise – and she wanted to travel.

A visitation will be held at Turner & Porter Peel Chapel, 2180 Hurontario St., on Monday. Due to the restrictions still in place surrounding COVID-19, attendance at the visitation is limited; to register, please copy and paste the following URL into your browser, times will be provided:
