In Celebration of

Lorraine George

October 15, 1934 -  August 31, 2022

Peacefully, at McKenzie Health, Richmond Hill, at the age of 87. Beloved wife of the late Charlie George. Devoted mother of Colleen Madonia (Philip) and the late Cindy Thistle (Steven). Adored grandmother of Dylan, Erin (Ryan), Joel, Zachary, Jacob, Katie and great grandmother (Gigi) of Ethan, Devon, Cicily and Oakley.

Lorraine was born in Toronto, ON to Catherine and Edward Pearce. She grew up at 404 Christie Street, where she lived for 58 years raising her daughters in the home she herself was raised in. She attended McMurrich P.S. and Oakwood Collegiate as did her daughters after her.

As an only child, Lorraine kept close to her cousin Grace Surman, and growing up as sisters, always by each other’s side, they danced and socialized together from their childhood through to their adult lives.

Lorraine was an active and vivacious woman who loved to socialize, dance and entertain. She enjoyed the Avonlea curling and Markland Wood golf clubs, where she passionately pursued these sports and the comradery of the club’s members. She was a world traveler and especially loved Europe, Italy and the Caribbean. Family was extremely important to Lorraine and she was actively involved in the day to day lives and milestones of her children and grandchildren.

She will be fondly remembered by her friends and family for her great sense of humour, kind heart, loyalty and resilience. Thank you mom for your endless love and support, we were blessed with the best. Rest in peace. We love you.
