In Celebration of

Lorna Ruth Sinden (nee Parker)

August 11, 1920 -  January 27, 2024

Passed away peacefully at Extendicare Mississauga on January 27, 2024 in her 104th year. Married in 1942, she was predeceased by her loving and devoted husband Mark (2003) Lorna leaves behind her four children, Myrna (late Jim); Sharon (late Bob); Marion (late Harry) and Ron (Diane) as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mark and Lorna started their married life in B.C. where Mark was posted as a member of the Navy band and where their first daughter was born. At the end of the war they returned to Toronto but soon moved to a rural property on Lawrence Ave. W, where they stayed for fifteen years; eventually settling in Islington where Lorna lived a busy and productive life until Mark passed away. In 2018 Lorna became a resident of Extendicare Mississauga where she was lovingly and wonderfully cared for until her passing. Throughout her life Lorna worked hard raising a family and keeping her home, doing volunteer work where needed and in particular at the school, the Church and the collection of donations over several decades for the Canadian Cancer Society, to name a few. She loved to swim, play tennis and Badminton, square dance and even did some downhill skiing. Full of life, fun, jokes and a crackerjack cribbage player, she had a strong connection with many friends as well as Islington United Church. Lorna was brought up in Toronto as part of a big family where she learned the importance of respect, kindness, honesty, love and support and passed these things on to her own family. She loved us unconditionally and was a kind, inspiring, and loving mother and “Nana” to her grandchildren. Our Mother loved to cook and bake and hosted many wonderful family get togethers through the years and will be in our hearts always for all the wonderful memories of our time with her. The beautiful person she was will be sadly missed by all her family for the love, laughter and support she brought to our lives.

Dear Nana,
We will miss you dearly - you led by example and were someone I admired. Your smile, generosity, spirit and sense of fun made you one of a kind.
Love you so very much

My mother was such a lovely person and I will miss her very much. We were blessed to have her with us so long but I am glad this time when God invited her to join him she accepted and will live in the House of the Lord forever . I am at peace knowing she is not in any pain now and resting with my Dad. The family service we held for her was I believe exactly as she would have wished and Turner and Porter handled everything beautifully. Goodbye Mom, you will be in our hearts forever.
