In Celebration of

Lorna Hedger

March 2, 1942 -  October 1, 2024

Having lived a long and extraordinary life, Lorna Lillian Hedger RN, died peacefully in her sleep early Monday October 1, 2024. Survived by her husband of 60 years, Donald, her three children, James, Matt, and Karen, grandchildren Tyler and Skye, and her sister Ruth and brother Jerry, Lorna lived a life of service to others as a nurse, mentor, mother, and a life long volunteer. She was predeceased by her sisters Joan and Lynda. Lorna's volunteer work brought deep meaning to her life and her family brought her great joy. A graduate of Woman's College Hospital, Lorna worked as a nurse for most of her career. In the course of her career, Lorna was a union steward representing her colleagues and an assistant administrator in long term elder care. For years, Lorna worked with Meals on Wheels and Sleeping Children Around the World, bringing hot food to local seniors and malaria proofed bedkits and school supplies to children around the world. Lorna loved to travel for fun and to help others. She kissed the Blarney Stone in Ireland, delivered medical supplies to remote villages in Uganda, was feted on a Manila basketball court because she was from Toronto, and rode elephants while delivering bed kits in India. Lorna has left a legacy of love, literacy, and responsibility for other people. Her life had deep meaning, was well lived, and made a difference everywhere she went and with everyone she met. Please honour her memory by doing something nice for someone else every day.

Service to be held Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at 11am at Turner & Porter's Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor West. A visitation and viewing from 6 – 9pm on Monday, October 7, 2024 at Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel.

Deepest Condolences to Don & family on the passing of Lorna.
We had a lot of fun and good times during our training at Women's College from climbing the fence to what is now West Park Hospital to our apartment after training by Humber Hospital. We worked together at Humber Hospital for sometime until life took us on different paths.
Thinking of you all .. Jackie (Farrar) Millard
