In Celebration of

Lori Akerman (nee Misetich)

November 3, 1968 -  May 24, 2022

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Lori, who was born on November 3, 1968, in Etobicoke, Ontario. Lori passed away on Tuesday May 24, 2022 at Trillium Health Partners, at the tender age of 53.

Beloved daughter of Greta (Jane) Misetich and the late Joe Misetich, younger sister of her late brother Michael, granddaughter of the late John and Stella Misetich (Bucky and Baba) and the late John and Nathalie Uogintas (Grampa and Granny), Lori will be dearly missed by all who knew her, especially her mom, her Auntie Helen, her Auntie Rose, her cousin Randy, and her dear friend Jimmy. She will also be hugely missed by Sydney, her cherished pet, who she shared a very beautiful, special bond with.

Lori was humble, kind and thoughtful. She had such a sweet, sweet heart and positive nature, always focusing on the best parts of every person she knew. She enjoyed the simple things in life, whether it be watching her favourite TV shows with the people she loved, visiting with the people she cared about, or spending time with the many pets she was so close to all through her life. She cherished every single one of them … her hamsters, her birds and her cats.

Lori had a love for music and found much joy in listening to her favourite artist, Celine Dion. In recent years, her most relaxing time was watching mass at night on her phone before she went to sleep.

Lori was a beautiful person, a beautiful soul. Her love and all of her special qualities will live on in all of the people who she touched.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday June 29, 2022 at Church of the Resurrection in Etobicoke, 1 Resurrection Rd. (Off of Bloor St. W. between Islington and Kipling). Visitation at the church from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., with Mass at 11:00. Lunch to follow.

In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, donations can be made to the Lung Health Foundation (Ontario), the Canadian Lung Association or the Canadian Cancer Society.
