In Celebration of

Lois Margaret Jeffery

March 8, 1933 -  December 14, 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lois Margaret Jeffery (Tinkham) on Thursday, December 14, 2023. Lois passed away peacefully in her sleep at 90 years of age.

Lois was born on March 8, 1933 to parents John and Jesse Tinkham in Toronto, Ontario. She is survived by her loving husband, Raymond “Ray” Jeffery after 68 devoted years of marriage and their three children, John Jeffery, Susan Pybus (Keith) and Lori Watling (Keith). Lois is predeceased by her loving daughter Margaret French, who is missed dearly; as well as brothers, John “Cliff” Tinkham and William “Bill” Tinkham and sisters Ruth McLeod and Betty Walkey.

Lois will be forever cherished and remembered by her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she was so proud of and loved deeply. They include grandchildren Bradley Watling (Diana), Brian Watling, Brenden Watling (Sierra), Bruce Watling (Lee), Brent Watling (Jessica), Braden Watling (Landan), Brock Watling (Katherine), Jeffery Pybus, Shannon Pybus, Erin Pybus and great-grandchildren Maxwell Watling, Madison Bemester (Ana & Rick), Elizabeth Watling, Evelyn Watling, Olivia Watling and Lily Watling. Lois will be missed by Don, Kelly, Amanda and Jocelyn French, whom she loved as her own.

Lois will be remembered for all the love and laughter she shared with her friends, family and community around her. She enjoyed volunteering with her church communities (Kingsway Lambton United Church and Westway United Church) and charitable organizations (Out of the Cold) throughout the years. She thoroughly enjoyed attending and participating in her family’s lives and many activities, including FIRST Robotics, musicals, performances, etc. She was proud of her family’s many accomplishments.

While Lois lived and worked in Toronto, Ontario all her life, her heart truly resided at Sauble Beach, Ontario, where she spent much of her formative years and made lasting memories with her family. She thoroughly enjoyed spending long days at the beach, going for swims on windy days to ‘jump’ the waves, and walks to watch the sunset for ice cream. Her deep connection with Sauble Beach was passed on to her family and will continue on for generations to come.

Lois enjoyed travelling, gardening, knitting, watching hockey and would never miss a curling match. Lois was proud of the life she built with husband Ray, and enjoyed recollecting her life’s stories with those around her.

She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Chessex and the wonderful caregivers at Toronto Western Hospital, who showed such dedication and provided Lois with the utmost care and compassion in her final days.

Visitation will be held at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel (2357 Bloor St W, Toronto, ON M6S 1P4) on Monday, December 18, 2023 at 6:00 to 8:00 pm and Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at 10:00 am, with funeral service to follow at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Out of the Cold Foundation or to the donor’s charity of choice.

The funeral service will be live streamed live and a livestream link will soon to follow.

Condolences.

Lois, and her husband Ray, have touched many, many lives over the years with their support of Runnymede Robotics in such a positive way.

Their support of the team extended way beyond their support for their grandchildren, extending to all of the other youth, the mentors, and the community around the team.

Lois and Ray always showed great generosity and kindness, and showed by example how to build a caring community.

Lois will be remembered fondly by everyone she touched.
