It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Leland (“Lan”) Tulio. He passed away at Toronto General Hospital at the age of 70 after battling pulmonary fibrosis.
Born in Manila, Philippines, Leland built his lifelong career as a medical laboratory technician both in the Philippines and Saudi Arabia. He immigrated to Toronto in the late 1980s and worked at Dynacare Laboratory where he devoted more than 30 years of service to the company until his retirement in 2023.
Leland had a great love for music and dancing (as evidenced by his massive CD / cassette collection and stereos that he accumulated over the years) and enjoyed watching movies and TV shows. He will be fondly remembered by family, friends, and past coworkers for his easygoing nature, happy demeanor, and hardworking spirit. He was dedicated to supporting his family while bringing positivity to those around him.
He leaves behind his wife Marilina and his daughter Audrey. Having come from a large and close-knit family, he is survived by nine siblings and predeceased by one sibling.
Visitation will be held at Turner & Porter Peel Chapel (2180 Hurontario St, Mississauga, ON L5B 1M8) on Wednesday, November 12, from 4 pm to 8 pm, followed by a funeral mass at St. Joseph’s Church (5440 Durie Rd, Mississauga, ON L5M 2J5) on Thursday, November 13 at 10:30 a.m. Following the funeral service, Leland will be cremated, and his ashes will be interred beside his dear mother at Assumption Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the UHN Foundation (https://uhnfoundation.ca/).
