The first time I met Kuni was when my school went to the villa to met the men and women who live there. We got put in pairs and my partner was Kuni. She was a kind sweet lady who was always smiling and putting smiles on other peoples faces. Kuni showed me how lucky I am to grow up the way I do. I am so glad that I got paired with Kuni because I will never forget all her story’s.
Dear Bette and Family,
My deepest condolences…
I have you in my thoughts and prayers as you go forward without your beautiful Mum.
For several years I walked my grade 6/7/8 students to the Villa to do crafts, play games, or share stories. The students made many interesting connections, but none as sweet as the connection between Kuni and AJ. She captivated him (and frankly all of us), with her strength, her class, and stories of her past. She had a way of looking at all of life’s events as blessings. I am sure that AJ will forever be influenced by the lovely connection they made.
Classy, smart, beautiful, Kuni was all those. She excelled at her job and always had a smile while doing it. I remember her with fondness.
It was my honor to know Auntie Kuni as she was close friends with my mother, Ruby Fukumoto. They were long time friends and had a lot of fun together. I remember going to their house on Gair dr. in Etobicoke when I was young and swimming in their pool. Later in life I got to have lunch with Kuni and my mom. I loved the dynamic between them as she made my mom laugh alot. I will miss Kuni's kind voice. Thank-you Kuni for being a good friend to my mom! Lots of love, Bob, on behalf of the Fukumoto family
