In Celebration of

Krystyna "Babcia" Klemensowicz (Nee Trojanowska)

March 28, 1928 -  January 25, 2024

It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Krystyna at the age of 95, on Thursday, January 25, 2024, at Copernicus Lodge Long-Term Care. She was an adoring and devoted wife of 58 years to Zenon (predeceased). A deeply cherished and adored Mama to her children Andy (Lynn), Tom (Renata), Monika (Marco), Dorota (Fikret), and predeceased by her son Mark (Jennifer). Held dear in their hearts, a cherished Babcia of Krista (Scott), Michael (Grace), Lydia, Emily, Kamila, Angela, Hakan, Alina and Giancarlo and Prababcia (great-grandmother) to Jeremy, Olivia, Benjamin and Beverly. She loved her sisters, Lola, Basia & Teresa and her parents, Maria & Bolek Trojanowski (all predeceased). She will be missed immensely by her family, relatives in Canada, England, & Poland and many friends.

Prior to settling in Canada with a young family, she endured much hardship and uncertainty due to the atrocities of World War II resulting in her displacement from Poland, her home country. It resulted in an agonizing upheaval into Siberia and ending up safely in Africa. Spending the majority of her teenage years in Tanzania shaped and strengthened her.

Among her numerous accomplishments included her time as a Heritage Language Teacher (Polish) at St. Casimir’s Parish and her volunteer work at both White Eagle Nursing Home and Copernicus Lodge. She also was a volunteer member of the parents association of Polish Canadian Scouting, Sea Scouts Baltyk. As well as her devotion to her family life, she was an active member of the Polish community and church, including a deep love of singing with the St. Casimir’s Church choir for over 40 years.

The family thanks the extraordinary staff of Copernicus Lodge Long-Term Care and Peace In-Home Health Care Services for their compassionate care and support.

A private family visitation will take place prior to the Funeral Mass. Family and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass, which will be celebrated at St. Casimir's Church, 156 Roncesvalles Avenue, Toronto, on Thursday, February 1 at 10:00 A.M. Interment of her cremated remains will take place at a later date in a private family service at Park Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation to Copernicus Lodge Foundation or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.

Dear Monika,
The beautiful and loving bond you had with your mom was readily seen with the lovely photos you posted and shared over the years. Special celebrations, visits and outings along with all of those happy smiles, I hope, will ease your heart.
I am glad I had the chance to meet your mom during our high school days and at your mini reunion. She was always such a gracious lady.
Please accept my deepest sympathy, to you and all who loved her.
May she rest in eternal peace.

Babcia became our Babcia too. Her family was the first we met when we came to this country.
Instantly with her warm heart, gentleness, smile and affection we became part of the family. Babcia exuded love for her children, grandchildren and to all she met. Babcia’s absence in the body will make a void in our world, but the memories of her will live forever in our minds and hearts. She was an angel on earth and now she is an angel in the heavens as she unites with her husband and son.
We extend love and deepest condolences to the entire family.
