In Celebration of

Kirk Lynn McMillan

April 11, 1967 -  July 6, 2024

Kirk, our beloved husband, dad, brother, uncle, son-in-law and friend, passed away on Saturday surrounded by family after a brief but fierce battle with cancer.

He was a mentor to us all throughout his 57 years; his wisdom strength, determination, and forever positive outlook continue to guide us through this difficult time.

Kirk was born to his loving parents Lynn and Myra on their family farm outside Ridgetown, Ontario. Continuing in his mum’s footsteps, he was a proud Queen’s University graduate who met his loving wife of 31 years, Heather, at the annual “Kill McGill” football game. He was forever proud that his Queen’s legacy was continued by both of his loving children, Connor and Paige.

From his rural roots on his cherished family farm, Kirk’s strong work ethic led him to the heights of Bay Street, where he shaped Canada’s capital markets over the span of an illustrious 30-year career at CIBC and BMO as “Captain Kirk”.

Although cut short, his retirement included all his favourite pastimes: trips to the family farm and to the cottage with his big sister Beth Anne and best friend Brian, reading by the pool, cheering on Canadian sports, and building huge Lego sets including the 10 000-brick Eiffel Tower.

Kirk will be forever cherished by his loving wife, Heather; son Connor and his partner Vida; daughter Paige and her partner Kyle; sister Beth Anne; brother-in-law and best friend Brian; brother Jeff and his partner Kirsten; sister-in-law Donna and her husband Ian; mother-in-law Jessie and her partner Herman; niece Jenna and her fiancé Nick; nephews Charlie and Ryan; best friends Nick, Suso, Dietrich and Allister; and many more family and friends.

The McMillan family would like to thank the incredible staff at Trillium Health Partners, especially at the Mississauga site for their compassionate care and support.

In lieu of flowers, Kirk would appreciate donations to Campfire Circle which funds camp experiences for children impacted by cancer. His personal donation page can be found here: https://support.campfirecircle.org/in-honour/in-honour-of-kirk-mcmillan

Friends may call at the Turner & Porter "Peel" Chapel, 2180 Hurontario St., Mississauga (Hwy 10 N. of Q.E.W), on Monday, July 15, 2024 from 6-9 PM. Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at 3 PM.
