In Celebration of
Kevin Patrick O'Neill
August 4, 1960 -
November 25, 2023
Kevin O’Neill passed away peacefully at age 63 with his family by his side at The Dorothy Ley Hospice. He was a devoted husband to Lynne and a loving father to their daughter Sophie. Kevin grew up in Sault Ste. Marie with his brothers Bernie (Tiffany) and Philip (Akiko), and sisters Barbara (Darren), and Kathy. He is remembered by his nieces and nephews in Canada, Japan, and Australia.
After graduating from McGill University in Civil Engineering, Kevin wanted to build big bridges or tall buildings. Luckily, Kevin’s varied career allowed him to work on some iconic structures including Gallery at Harborplace in Baltimore, BCE Place (now Brookfield Place) in Toronto, and the new Terminal 1 at Pearson International Airport. Kevin ended his career with Driver Trett Canada as a construction claims consultant, rising to Country Manager before his cancer diagnosis in 2022. His colleagues remember him as a kind leader and mentor.
Kevin was married to the love of his life, Lynne, for 31 years. They both had a love of travel and visited many countries across Europe, North and South America, and Asia. They also enjoyed everything Toronto had to offer and spent their time eating at new restaurants, going to classical music and jazz concerts, and watching theater. Kevin was a tremendous father. He loved his daughter Sophie dearly and supported all her passions and her post-secondary education and career in the United States. He instilled in her his love for the Blue Jays, the Raptors, Formula 1 racing and skiing.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Raymond Jang and the team at Princess Margaret Hospital, Wilson Suen and the dedicated team at Toronto Home and Community Care, and the caring staff and volunteers at the Dorothy Ley Hospice. We also would like to acknowledge Dr. Rachel Wortzman for her unflagging and compassionate support to Kevin and his family.
Visitation will take place at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W., at Windermere, east of the Jane Subway Station, on Friday December 1 from 5-8 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel on Saturday December 2, 2023 at 3 p.m. For those who wish, please direct donations in lieu of flowers to the Princess Margaret Hospital, the Dorothy Ley Hospice, or Jazz FM 91.1.
