In Celebration of

Kathleen Tong

June 29, 1969 -  April 21, 2019

After a courageous and inspiring battle with cancer, Kathleen Tong passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on April 21, 2019, in her 50th year.

She will be dearly missed by her mother Sim, sister Elizabeth (Kyle), nephew Declan, niece Thea and extended family and friends.

Kathleen was an avid reader, television and movie enthusiast and had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. The Toronto Public Library seemed like a logical place for continuing access to information and as a result, was her first and last place of employment. Kathleen worked in many TPL branches over the years, notably Answerline in Toronto Reference Library, North York Central Library and Woodside Square.

Kathleen brought a smile to all those around her with her fantastic sense of humour and selfless nature. In her last year, she inspired numerous strangers with her strength, acceptance and kindness.

In keeping with Kathleen’s wishes, cremation has taken place with a private ceremony planned for immediate family and friends.

Kathleen loved her pets, Leo “Punky” and MacGuyver “Pissy” and is now reunited with them. For those who wish to make a donation in Kathleen's memory, please consider the Toronto Humane Society.

I was very saddened to hear about Kathleen. During my seven years working along side her in Answerline we shared the ups and downs of customers service. She was a strong advocate for the staff in the department, avid problem solver and always made me laugh with her zingers.

My condolences and deepest sympathies to her Mother, sister and nephew.
