In Celebration of

Kathleen "Kay" Elizabeth Maynard

May 2, 1930 -  October 9, 2024

Kay passed away peacefully after a brief battle with cancer. Predeceased by her husband Ernest (Dick) Maynard. A long-time resident of Bloor West Village, she was a good neighbour and especially enjoyed travelling, gardening, time spent at the Boulevard Club and Friday night fish and chips in the Kingsway. A kind soul who will be missed.

Visitation will take place at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor Street West, Toronto (just east of Jane St.) from 12 noon - 2 p.m. on Wednesday, October 16 followed immediately thereafter by interment at nearby Park Lawn Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations to The Salvation Army in Kay's memory are kindly requested. On-line condolences at www.turnerporter.ca

Kay was the best neighbor. She was always happy and friendly. She didn't mind when my brother's band used to practice in the basement. She said it was nice hear life around her. She generously allowed us to use her half of the backyard for neighborhood gatherings. After she moved in to a retirement residence we would call her and she was always happy to talk and catch up on news about the neighborhood. She was a wonderful person and we'll miss her. I like to think that she has been reunited with her husband Dick now and they are living happily ever after.

I remained in contact with Kay, helping her look after her affairs, after she sold her house in early 2019; I will miss our conversations, even though they often revolved around her complaints about the food at her retirement home! While a very private person, she was also thoughtful and generous. And I have since learned she never threw out a receipt, statement or "important paper" of any sort! RIP, Kay.

Kay was such a positive person and a delightful neighbour. Whenever she saw me working in my front garden, she would stop and offer a few words of encouragement. Kay left this world a better place.
