In Celebration of

Katherine Cogswell

May 21, 1924 -  November 13, 2024

Peacefully, on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at Extendicare Brampton, at the age of 100. Devoted wife of the late Clarence. Adored mother to Beverley (Doug), Dale (Pamela), Jill (Chuck) and the late Andrea and Terry. Much loved Nana to her ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Born in Avondale station, Pictou County Nova Scotia. One of sixteen children of the late James Robert and Eva Mae MacLeod (Arbuckle)

The world has changed for all of us.

Mom was a lady of many talents, with an artistic flair and the ability to create anything she set her mind to. She cooked meals for armies of people at a moment notice in our home in Etobicoke. Every holiday was special, always beautifully decorated, and so much home cooking! Being one of the oldest of 16 children she gladly took in her younger siblings and helped raise them along with us. There was always room at her table!

She was an incredible gardener, finding peace and solace in the smells and beauty of the earth- her happy place and always enjoying her regular trips to the botanical gardens.

Her cottage on Georgian Bay, was her favourite place to be, a getaway from the city. A quiet and cozy place where she could reconnect with all the things she missed about her home in Nova Scotia. She especially loved having her grandchildren there.
She is a Mom who we loved. A phenomenal Nana. A beloved Auntie Kaye. She will be sadly missed but will live on in all our memories and stories - of which there is no shortage.

Mom always loved wearing hats and scarves which she did with much panache. Please feel free to wear them in honour of Mom.

Friends may call at the Turner and Porter Neweduk- Erin Mills Chapel, 1981 Dundas Street West, Mississauga on Saturday, November 30, 2024 from 10 a.m., followed by a Funeral Service in the Chapel at 11 a.m.

It is with great sadness that we learned about the passing of our “ Adopted Canadian Mum( Mom)”Although we never met in person we spoke to her via the phone when we were visiting Bev and Doug.
Over the last 16 years we have had regular contact including travelling with Bev and Doug and have met most of their immediate Family. Through this , we have formed a bond and feel we know you all so well.
As we are unable to be with you, please know that Peter and I are sending our Love and support and will continue to keep you All in our Prayers.
