In Celebration of

Kathaleen (Kay) Elizabeth Greer

May 26, 1924 -  October 4, 2023

When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure. Kathaleen (Kay) Elizabeth Greer will always be a treasure in our hearts. It is with deep sadness that we said our final earthly good-byes to “Our Favourite Auntie Kay” on October 4th, 2023 at the age of 99. Kay was born in Toronto on May 26, 1924. Kay was surrounded by her loving family and close friends Margaret Evans and Betsy Swaine in her final days.

For those of us who were lucky to have Kay in our lives, she filled our hearts with her positivity, contagious smile, and strength. Kay lived her life to the fullest. She had many friends, a career she loved and so many passions.

Kay was a very popular person who made friends everywhere she went. She had a way of connecting with others by showing a sincere interest in getting to know them. Kay loved her career as the Administrative Assistant to the President of Kodak where her father had also once worked. Kay’s commitment to her family was unmistakable. She took care of her mom, Gertrude, until she passed, also at the age of 99. Kay’s passions included curling followed by working out in the club gym in her 80’s, a good bridge game, euchre, dogs, and most of all golf. Kay played golf several times a week until her mid 90’s. She was an active member of St. George’s Golf and Country Club for over 50 years. As a thank you for her contributions and support of the Club Kay was awarded Life Membership in 2017. This is St. George’s highest honour. She once described joining St. George’s as “the best move I ever made.”

Kay was laid to rest next to her family – mom (Gertrude), dad (Albert), and her three brothers (Lawrence, Robert, and Gordon). She has joined them, as well as her best friend Jean McClaskey, in heaven.

Thank you to all who loved Auntie Kay. And a deep gratitude to Humber Heights for providing her with kindness and excellent care. Thank you to Pastor Kirk Grant from Humber Heights and Pastor Jaylynn Byassee from Kay’s church Kingsway-Lambton United for your comforting prayers. May she rest in peace.

If Kay were here now she would remind all of us of her favourite saying, “You get what you get, and you don’t get upset”.

We welcome you to provide your thoughts and memories in our Guestbook and look at the photos.

Kay was a curling pal of my Mom's at St Georges. Our Mom, Ruth Boake, who passed away this past February, would have had very fond memories of Kay. Blessings to your family. The pictures are wonderful and it was great to read about her life!
