It is with heavy hearts and great sorrow to announce the death of our dear father Kais Marmarchi at the age of 78 on Thursday, September 21st, 2023 at Credit Valley Hospital after battling a difficult illness for nearly a year. He was born to the late August Marmarchi and the late Alice Barbat. He is the husband to the late Maysoon Awad and father to Ban, Farah (Ioannis), and Husam Marmarchi. He is the loving grandfather of two little girls Emilia and Maria Katehos. He is the eldest brother to Walid, Nethal, and Salam Marmarchi.

True Love - Our parents, Kais and Maysoon, loved each other so much. They are your role models of true love. This was further confirmed when my father followed my mother to heaven on September 21st. Why is this date so significant? It is the same day Maysoon passed away 12 years ago. This is a great sign of true love and a greater sign they are together reunited. We now know that Kais and Maysoon are together in love and in peace.

Jiddo - Kais was a loving and proud grandfather (jiddo) to two little girls Emilia and Maria. He used to go for walks to the park with them, pick pumpkins from the farm for them, and spoil them with gifts. He loved taking pictures of them and posting it on social media to display his pride and joy to his family and friends. Emilia will miss eating nuts with her jiddo, which she calls "you are my heart jiddo".

Gardening - Our father loved gardening. This was his favorite hobby. He had tons of books all about plants. He loved planting fruits, vegetables, trees, and flowers, especially roses. He spent many hours outdoors making sure his plants got all they needed to look perfect. Dad, your gardens will miss your love and care.

P.Eng. BDS, Senior Structural Engineer - Our father's occupation was a passion of his. It wasn't a job. It was more like an activity. My father is a Structural Engineer with the Professional Engineer designation. When our father arrived in Canada, he was looking for an engineering position. One day he went for a walk and passed by a construction site. He pointed out a mistake to one of the employees. He was then asked to meet with the head of engineers to explain this mistake. He was so impressed with his knowledge; that he was offered a position with their company. Kais then committed to upgrade his engineering status to Professional Engineer. He studied very hard for 2 consecutive years for this designation while supporting our beloved mother with her health. He worked all the way until the age of 77.

Heart of Gold - Our father had a gentle heart. He always looked for ways to help other people. He was such a softy! He couldn't even watch a lion eating a deer without crying for the deer. He was also very social. He always involved himself in social clubs, attending churches, traveling and cruising, and visiting his family and friends. He was also a very funny man. He can be sitting among others without saying a word and all of a sudden he says something so funny it shakes the room. Finally, he is a very sharp and independent man. He never needed help accomplishing anything. He always worked alone. From being an investigator to constructing buildings and homes to working on power plants in Iraq.
