In Celebration of

June Marie Pallin

June 28, 1931 -  November 20, 2024

In a room filled with love — in her home that has always been filled with love — June’s spirit passed on. Waiting to welcome her were her best friend and sweetheart, Everett, and many family members and friends who love her.

June Marie Pallin (nee Marchant) was born June 28, 1931, daughter of Jessie and Charles Marchant. She was one of seven children, two of whom died very young. She was raised with four sisters, from eldest to youngest, Edith Ashton, June Pallin, Nancy Long, Helen Warner and Diana Blair, three of whom have predeceased her.

June loved to dance, and this is how she met Ev in 1950, at a dance at the Masonic Hall in Toronto. While dating, June and Ev studied with missionaries of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and were baptized on December 18, 1952. Since that time, she has devoted her life to serving the Lord, her family, friends and community.

June and Ev married on July 2, 1952, and soon after they started their large family. June loved being a mother and full-time homemaker, happily raising eight children and later adopting another, all of whom revere and adore her. Her and Ev’s family has since grown to 104 members. Even with a full house of children, their door was always open, often welcoming strangers into their home for meals and/or offering a temporary place to live when needed.

June’s life has been one of quiet and consistent service, never basking in the limelight, even though her talents are many. To name just a few: seamstress, baker, candy maker, gardener, camper, organizer and swimmer. Her spiritual talents include listening; accepting, including and respecting others; not complaining; seeing the best in everyone; forgiving; and never gossiping.

June loves the outdoors, and other than home, her favourite place to be is at the family cottage on Cordova Lake, where she and Ev created more than just happy memories. The cottage has become a sacred place for her family because of the deep connections that were fostered between people and nature there. She taught her children and grandchildren to love and respect nature and its inhabitants. She removed any fear of swimming through seaweed by calling it her underwater garden. She delighted in the sun dancing on the water and referred to its sparkle as diamonds, causing the family to affectionately call them “Grandma’s diamonds.” She would encourage us to stop and listen to the sound of wind whistling through the trees. She initiated many late-night trips to the deck or boathouse roof to marvel at the stars. She loved a full moon, and cottage trips often coincided with the full moon. She could identify many birds and enjoyed caring for them. She loved the rain and was happy to swim in it or sit on the porch and enjoy a lightning storm.

Her service in the Church was extensive. A favourite calling was scouting as Akela with the Cub Scouts. She has served in almost every capacity, including as Relief Society president, Young Women president, Primary president, seminary teacher, Toronto Ontario Temple matron and Georgia Atlanta Mission leader. Her motivation for service has always been an unwavering love of God and His children.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to make a donation through the Light the World Giving Machines at the Toronto Eaton Centre or extend a kindness to someone in need.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 24, 2024 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at Turner & Porter Funeral Home, Peel Chapel, 2180 Hurontario Street, Mississauga.

June will be interred at Fife Cemetery, Peterborough on Tuesday, November 26, 2024.

A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 95 Melbert Road, Etobicoke followed by a reception.

Our deepest condolences to the Pallin family at this time of loss. We have so many wonderful and endearing memories of Sister Pallin. Whenever we would call her by that name, her response was "it's June". We appreciated the love, caring and kindness she showed to everyone. It was an honour to spent time with her and learn from her. We are so grateful to have known her. Treasure the memories, they are yours forever. Hugs

May your family find continued peace and comfort as you remember and share the beautiful memories, testimony, example, and legacy Sister Pallin leaves for us. Her love and caring spirit touched the hearts of so many people. I am so grateful to have known her, to have learned from her testimony and example and to have shared a gospel friendship.

June and Everett were two of my favorite people. My Family came from England in July 1952 and we attended the Ossington Chapel where we met June and Everett. Helen Warner and I were around the same age growing up at Ossington, faithful members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints. Even though far apart from my many Friends at Ossington I still hold the special memories in my heart of all the wonderful Saints we associated with and the many special times we enjoyed there.

June has been a bright shining example of a sweet daughter of God since I first met her more than 50 years ago. So loving and kind! The world is much poorer without her, but an angel has now gone home to report and receive her crown. She will be sorely missed by her children, grandchildren, her sister Helen, and many others, but there is joy in heaven with her return for many there. Ev, her magnificent husband -- now that's joy!! And it goes on forever.
