In Celebration of

Julie "Gramma, The Queen, Juge" LaFontaine

August 27, 1930 -  August 23, 2024

Julie LaFontaine, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home in the early hours of August 23, 2024. She was 93 years old.

Julie was born on August 27, 1930 in Kitchener, Ontario, the daughter of Stephen and Rita Kotylak. She was the loving wife of Jack (John) LaFontaine, with whom she shared 74 years of marriage. Together, they built a family that was the pride and joy of Julie’s life.

Julie was a loyal friend, known for her sharp wit, kind heart, and her unwavering love for her family. She was the queen of her family, always ensuring that her loved ones knew how deeply they were cherished. In addition to her love for her family, Julie had a passion for tennis, both as an avid player and a devoted fan. Whether she was on the court or cheering from the sidelines, Julie’s enthusiasm was contagious.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Jack LaFontaine; her five children, Peter (Chantal), Paul (Heather), John (Lily), Karen (Doug), Mike (Angie), and daughter in-laws Susan and Heather; her 12 grandchildren, and her 4 great-grandchildren.

We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the devoted caregivers who have been a part of Julie’s life for many years. Your unwavering dedication, compassion, and kindness provided not only care but companionship and comfort. You became an extended part of our family, and we are forever grateful for the love and support you gave Julie. Your presence made a lasting difference in her life, and we will always remember your contributions with deep appreciation.

Julie’s spirit will continue to guide and inspire her family and all who knew her. She will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love, humor, and passion for life will live on.

To honour Julie’s wishes, there is no formal funeral or celebration of life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation in Julie’s memory. Please feel free to sign the digital "guest book" on this site. There is also a place to view and add photos or mementos. (From a cell phone or tablet, click on the 3 horizontal lines on the top right of your screen).

Please keep Julie and her family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
