Julia Alves passed away in peace and happiness surrounded by loved ones by her side (and in her heart) in the hospital on Sunday, February 15th at the age of 78.

Julia was born in Partida, Portugal, into a loving family of five siblings. She is lovingly remembered by her sisters Adelaide, widow of Manuel, and Amelia (Joaquim), as well as her brother Joaquim. She was predeceased by her brothers Jaime (Marieta) and Antonio (Fernanda). Throughout her life, she cherished the strong bond she shared with her siblings, holding close the memories of those who have passed and the love of those who remain.

In search of a better life, Julia immigrated to Canada with her late husband of 58 years, Jose Dias Alves. Together they built a life centered on faith and family. She was a devoted mother to Paula (Daniel) Goncalves and her late daughter Betty Alves. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Matthew (Meagan) and Jessica (Malek). She was a cherished aunt to many nieces and nephews and a dear friend to many.

Julia was a devoted Catholic and an active parishioner at Cristo Rei Parish in Mississauga since its opening. She served as a Sacristy Manager, taught the rosary to children at local schools, and participated in various prayer and social groups through the church. For 25 years, she faithfully packed shoeboxes through Operation Christmas Child for children in need around the world. Julia will be remembered as a positive, generous, honest, and strong soul who inspired others to be the best versions of themselves, even in her final days.

Julia will always hold a special place in our hearts, forever, until we meet again.
