In Celebration of

Józef Piekny

May 1, 1942 -  February 18, 2023

It is with a heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our father Józef Piekny on Saturday, February 18, 2023.

This gentle, loving, caring and wonderful man has left a permanent mark engraved on our hearts, and will be immensely missed by his wife and best friend of over 55 years: Anna Piekny; by his children Peter (wife Irene), and Andy (wife Margaret); as well as his siblings Boguslawa, Marian, Zbigniew, Halina, Wieslaw and Olenka. He was always there for them through their ups and downs, offering his love, support, and encouragement. He taught them to enjoy every moment life has to offer. He was a proud grandfather to Benjamin, Nicholas, and Emma who meant the world to him.

There was never a job too large or too small that he would not tackle. He was a gifted carpenter that loved working with wood and built many homes throughout his life.

He was a devoted Catholic, who spent countless hours volunteering and being an active member within the Polish Community: a parishioner of St. Casimir’s Church, in Toronto, and St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish in Mississauga, for many years.

He will be forever remembered by his wife, sons, daughters-in-law, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, extended family, and cherished friends.

Friends may call at the Turner & Porter "Peel" Chapel, 2180 Hurontario St., Mississauga (Hwy 10 N. of Q.E.W) on Sunday from 1-3 pm and 6-9 pm. Rosary prayers will be at 8:15 pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Maximilian Kolbe Roman Catholic Church, 4260 Cawthra Rd., Mississauga (N. of Burnhamthorpe Rd.), on Monday, February 27, 2023, at 11 am.

Interment Assumption Cemetery.

Joe will be fondly remembered by all of us, Michael, Samantha, Matthew, Abbie and me; Aneta. His great big heart to take care of his ill wife and to always be upbeat and positive was remarkable. Never a selfish feeling, always caring and sharing and looking for a great family get together. His charisma drew everyone close, and his silly funny side made everyone laugh out loud.

We will always remember you and miss you forever.
Rest in peace and God bless you
