Josip Dozdor

May 15, 1940 - October 1, 2023

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Josip Dozdor announce his peaceful passing after a long illness
on October 1, 2023, surrounded by his family.

Josip was born in Dugopolje, Croatia, and came to Canada in May of 1968, with the hope of a better life.

Beloved husband of Dragica for 54 years. Loving father of Helen and Joseph(Lauralee) and cherished Grandfather of Rylin and Eva. Brother of Mate(Zlata) and Uncle to Mirjana, Lidija, and Boris. Predeceased by his parents Mara and Jozo, and his late brothers Ivan and Jure in Croatia.

Cherished in-laws Gary and Debbie Rogers. Dearest friends Nick and Marilyn Jurinic. Family was at the centre of Josip’s life. Though we grieve his loss, we are grateful for the precious moments we shared with him and the lasting impact he had on us all. Josip was a skilled cabinet maker by trade and worked very hard to give his family a better life.

Friends may call at the Turner & Porter “Peel Chapel”, 2180 Hurontario St., Mississauga (Hwy 10 N. of Q.E.W) on Friday, October 13, 2023 from 6-8 p.m.

For those who wish, donations can be made to the Lung Associations and the Canadian Cancer Society.

We are all heartbroken at the passing of our Stric Joža. Our deepest condolences to our Strina Dragica and our cousins Helen and Joseph, along with his wife Lauralee and children Rylin and Eva.

My Stric Joža was a force to be reckoned with. He was a hard-working man and earned the respect of all who met him. Taking his role as family patriarch very seriously, he always shared his valuable advice and wisdom with all who needed it. Stric Joža was an inspiration to all. He single-handedly brought our families to Canada from Croatia to find a better life and because of him, that is what we have and we will be forever grateful. His legacy will never be forgotten and his memory will live on in our hearts.
