July 1, 1918 - March 29, 2019

Peacefully, at the age of 100, surrounded by love on March 29th, 2019, Josephine drew her last breath, in Mississauga, just prior to sunrise Mum’s earthly journey ceased. Beloved wife of the late Reginald Burke. Cherished mother of Michael, Rashid, Faye, and Marie. Dear grandmother of Sophia (Alfred) Amissah, Ismael, Abdul, and Kadijah. Blessed great-grandmother of Elijah, Noah, Cleo, Harmony, Reuben, and Omari. Sister of Dudley (Myrtle) Brown. Leaves to mourn many nieces, nephews, cousins, beloved family friends, and great neighbours.

Friends may call at the Turner & Porter, Neweduk Chapel, 1981 Dundas Street West, Mississauga, L5K 1R2 (east of Erin Mills Pkwy). Visitation on Friday, April 12, 2019, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service to be held in the Neweduk Chapel on Saturday, April 13th, 2019 at 11:00 am.

Ma chère amie Faye,

Je partage avec toi la tristesse du décès de ta mère. Perdre sa mère, c’est perdre une partie de soi. Ta mère était une personne exceptionnelle, j’imagine le vide qu’elle laisse dans ton cœur et celui de Marie.
Je t’offre à toi, à Marie, à tes frères et à la famille mes plus sincères condoléances. Que la peine qui vous habite présentement se transforme graduellement en rivière de doux souvenirs en vous remémorant qui elle était, ce qu’elle a vécu et ce que vous avez eu la chance de partager avec elle.
