In Celebration of

Joseph "Joe" Palanica

September 9, 1943 -  March 12, 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joseph “Joe” Palanica on Wednesday, March 12, 2025. Joe was the beloved husband of Linda, father of Parrish (Sherry), grandfather of Mia and Simon and brother of Roma Kelembet and Joanne Gibson.

Joe was born September 9, 1943 in Brody, Ukraine and came to Canada with his parents and siblings in 1951. Joe was a longtime teacher with the TCDSB who loved his family and friends. He loved to travel and was packed before a trip was even planned. He was a runner, golfer, loved cycling, good food, great cognac and also a life long fitness fanatic.

Celebration of Life will be held at Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel (2357 Bloor St. W. Toronto) on Monday, March 17, 2025 between 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation in Joe’s memory.

Joe, you were always such a wonderful guide, mentor and friend. Always there to encourage through the difficult times and with such a clever sense of humor. You have the patience and strength of Lion, setting the pace for the rest of us at the gym and at the buffet.
We will always stand together Joe.
We love you ...

My deepest condolences and prayers for Joe and family in this time of grief.
Eternal rest grant unto him oh Lord and let perpetual light shine upon him, and may he rest in peace. Amen

I am deeply saddened to hear this news. Jo was a school friend of my husband Bill Martens(d2010). I heard about their many capers and lifetime friendship. Jo and Linda have been my best friends since 1999 when I moved to Canada and married Bill and have missed them all since moving back to the UK. Keep running Jo!
