In Celebration of

Joseph Francis (Joe) Havrilla

June 9, 1934 -  January 30, 2023

At 1:29 a.m. on January 30th, our dad left this world to join his true love, Michèle (21 February 2008) at the Pearly Gates. It is a reunion that gives his three daughters peace knowing that our parents are together again. Joe was born in 1934, the 5th child of immigrant parents from the former Czechoslovakia. He grew up on a farm in Schomberg with very little. He worked hard and studied hard, eventually becoming an electrician. His work took him to GE, where he made lifelong friends and then to Ontario Hydro where he worked for most of his career. Joe met Michele in Miami Beach in 1966 and after only a few months they were married, eventually having three wonderful daughters. He always had a great sense of humour and was loved by everyone he met. Joe was a wonderful, husband, dad, papa and friend. He will be greatly missed by his daughters and sons-in-law Kelly Ann & Gary Scott, Joelle & James Parer and Emily & Kevin Moore as well as his grandchildren Connor, Brendan & Kieran Scott, Maya, Jack & Annie Parer, and Erik & Mason Moore. His “ladies” will be without their last man standing but the herd of turtles will go on (inside joke). He truly valued his breakfasts, and the accompanied laughs, with you all. His neighbours were very important to him and such great friends. Thank you for being there for him over the years. A big thank you to the wonderful staff at Bough Beeches Retirement Home for making dad feel at home over the last four months and the hard working staff at Trillium Mississauga who were so kind and gracious, particularly in his final days. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice. Family will welcome visitors at Turner & Porter, Butler Chapel, 4933 Dundas Street West, Etobicoke on Friday February 10th from 1-3 pm and 6-8 pm. Funeral mass will be at Nativity of Our Lord Parish, 480 Rathburn Road, Etobicoke on Saturday February 11th at 10:00 am. Interment to follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Schomberg. Masking is encouraged while indoors.

Knowing Joe was a joy and privilege. We enjoyed his and Michelle’s company together in OBV over many winters and continued the friendship while at home in Toronto and by phone after we moved to Georgian Bluffs. Joe called on every birthday and anniversary and our chats were warm, personable and fun. We will miss those calls but will always have our memories of that wonderful smile ant wit. God bless.
