In Celebration of
Jose Moniz Medeiros
March 8, 1937 -
May 8, 2022
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jose Moniz Medeiros on Sunday, May 8, 2022, at the age of 85.
Jose was the husband, best friend, and soulmate of 55 years to his beautiful wife Arminda. He was a devoted father to Anna (Joe), Dave (Kelly), Debbie (Mario), Janice (Edgar) and Emily (Boyan) who he always confided in. His grandchildren Anna, Mario, Celina, Lucas, Victoria, Diego, Alyssa, Sierra, Nikolas, Tyler, Zac, Maya, and Sophia, who he loved being in the presence of. His eyes would light up when he was with them, and his great grandchildren, Kayden and Cooper, who he adored. He shared a love for his siblings, his nieces and his nephews. Many of his nieces and nephews called him their second dad. He also loved God and Jesus above all. His faith was everything to him and he watched daily mass everyday right up until the day Jesus brought him home.
Jose was born on March 8, 1937 in Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal. In 1966, at the age of 29 he came to Canada, arrived in Toronto, and settled in Streetsville at his sister’s house. Approximately a year later he bought his first home and moved to Brampton but only to come back to Streetsville 9 years later in order to lessen his commute. In Feb, 1978 he purchased his second home in Streetsville on the same street he began his journey. He continued to live there happily up until his passing. He loved his backyard and spent all summer taking care of his fruit trees and grape vines with pride. He was a dedicated and hard worker at Reid Milling in Streetsville for 35 years.
Jose was a true Gentlemen. A gentle soul. He was compassionate, patient, kind, loving, young at heart, understanding, sensitive, forgiving and a great listener. He found “brightness in each day”. ENJOY YOUR LIFE were his words to all of us constantly. Jose was an empathetic person who always placed himself in other people’s “shoes” and always tried to listen and understand both sides of every situation. He did it with a smile. He was a peacemaker and looked for the good in everyone. He always put everyone’s needs above his own.
Jose loved the Toronto Maple Leafs. He loved swimming and shared many wonderful memories with his grandkids in the pool. He loved the beach and shared many wonderful memories with his children at Wasaga Beach and Port Elgin Beach. He loved Seafood and he loved country music.
We will miss his voice, his kind eyes and his smile. We pray that some day, maybe not today or tomorrow, we will find comfort in knowing that he is surrounded by the people that love him from above, especially our beloved God, our almighty Father, and all the angels above. We love you; we miss you, and we will keep all the beautiful memories that we shared with you alive in our hearts forever.
