I knew John somewhat through social contact, a visit to their home, or a couples dinner together. But I really knew John through my friendship with his wife. I know of his enthusiasm for life, his kind and generous spirit, his great sense of fun, his keen interest in all things, and in others. He was a wonderful teacher and mentor, husband and father. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him.
Dear Mary, Rick & Family,

Heather, I am so grateful Mum and I were able to have lots of fun, love and laughter with you and John. Our wonderful dinners, lunches and lots of chatter ! Thinking of everyone and may the wonderful memories of John keep your hearts and minds forever surrounded with warmth and love.

So sorry to read of John's passing. He was a merry soul who always found the funny side and made you laugh. The family gets smaller but the love continues--keep well and watch for those special birds.

To Heather and family... My sister Nancy let me know of this sad development. My mother was Margaret who you will remember as Gordon's twin sister. I was born in 1951 so at family get togethers I tended to hang out with Jane but I always was impressed with how John was so comfortable with both the adults and the kids. He always had fun with a smile on his face. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him including the 1000's of students he shared his knowledge with.
Kindest regards,
Brian Dodge
